How to get ready for your big move

February 25, 2022

The big move is finally here.

Moving tips for a pain-free move

The Fields is set as your assigned destination. Let’s be frank (and no that is not the weird smiley guy at your local supermarket), moving is never easy but with a destination like The Fields, the journey is worthy of the destination. Feel free to procrastinate and check out all we have available and waiting for you.

That said, let’s get to the crux of the matter. Taking what is described as one of life’s most stressful events and hopefully making it as pain-free as possible. No 1-2-3 countdown before the rip is required, just some genuine pain-free tips.

You said, who said organisation is key?

There are two kinds of people in the world: those that do, and those that do everything last minute because they didn’t do it. And yes, we have chosen not to mention those that do not do because others do, because well, that is not you, right?

Moving can mean carefully and pedantically labelling, categorising, boxing, and itemising all that is going to be moved across, with true OCD precision. Or shoving everything you own into dustbin bags, hoping and praying nothing gets lost, damaged, or stolen along the way. Let’s opt for the third option, something in between, balance.

Knowing your destination is half the battle. Knowing what rooms will be filled, helps you categorise what you will need to fill them up. Have you chosen a furnished or unfurnished room; as an unfurnished room will require additional moving. Are you sharing a space or not? You don’t want to bring more than you need, but at the same time don’t forget the charger if you have elected to bunk solo and heaven forbid you forget the headphones if you have chosen to bunk up. You have an option of the following types of apartments bachelor, one bedroom, two bedroom, three bedroom. We also have a nearby apartment block Howzit Hilda with many apartment options.

Take a breath, you are not moving to the jungle. Everything you need is at your doorstep lest you forget something. Don’t believe us? Have a look at our convenient locations [link] and all that surrounds them. We are happy for you to reach out to us so we can name drop a few.

Crossing the starting line is half, if not, the full battle

Everything is daunting until you start but realising that you have gotten into a top tier university and have your very convenient, stylish and accommodating, living space sorted, why not grab that first box, as you are already halfway there.

Don’t leave it to the last minute, enjoy planning what you want to bring with you to the next stage of your life. That being said, be smart! Clutter means more mess and mess means chores, no one wants more of those.

Remember even if you run out of time or cram The Fields is here to help ease the journey, our ready equipped laundry The Wash Bar is ready and waiting to iron out all those creases. It’s open 24/7 for your convenience.

To be or not to be:

Remember to enjoy the journey. Get to know your surroundings and the people you will be sharing the space with. Rushing in and getting every box unpacked is not the goal, creating a home and safe space for yourself is. Get to know your surroundings and pack an easily accessible bag of essentials so your first night does not involve you running around rummaging through boxes to find your toothbrush.

Good luck for the new year! We are so excited to be the first step to a successful future. Wishing you all the best, and remember we are here for any questions of assistance, The Fields.
